The pirate’s cutlass is one of the more interesting things I’ve made so far.
I forged the blade from 50HF steel, with an fuller and a strong tang going all the way through the handle.
The hand is protected by a hilt, forged from structural steel and decorated with a cross motif, forged from copper.
The handle, made of hard wenge wood, is hand-woven with bronze wire and closed with copper sleeves.
The scabbard is made of birch, trimmed with leather, with copper fittings and a strong strap for carrying on the shoulder.
